Testimonials

The BioGENEius challenge is completely based around independent thinking. Rather than looking solely at course material, the BioGENEius allows students to fully engage with their acquired school education and to apply this knowledge in ways they might previously have been unable to entertain.”

-Jamin Wu, Perth, Western Australia, Honorable Mention Winner, 2013 International BioGENEius Challenge

Some of the questions were pretty challenging, and they caused me to think about my work in a new way, which was very insightful….. [The BioGENEius Challenge is]an all around inspiring experience, and I would not trade it for anything

My judges provided me constructive feedback and suggestions and by seeing other cutting-edge biotech projects, I learned about many other avenues I could take in the future.”

-Rahi Punjabi, Marlborough, MA, 2013 U.S. National BioGENEius Challenge Finalist

Perhaps the best thing of the challenge was being able to meet all sorts of people from across the United States. Watching them gather together and talk about their projects is such a magical experience!

Judges are excited to listen to your presentation and are glad to give you feedback...properly prepare for [your] 5 - 6 minute presentation as it is important that the judges hear the most important aspects of your project in the short time allotted.

“The integration of the competition with the BIO Convention was also helpful as it allowed students like me to explore our career options in biotechnology and discover what solutions scientists are working on to create a safer, more healthy, and sustainable world.”

-Jiho (Jason) Park, Irvine, CA, 2nd Place Winner, 2013 International BioGENEius Challenge

The BioGENEius Challenge is different in that it is self-selective and only students who are conducting work in areas related to biotechnology are able to compete. It is also .. affiliated with the BIO Convention and really introduces students to the biotechnology industry and the professional side of research..

-Sahir Jaggi, Cohoes, NY, Honorable Mention Winner, 2013 International BioGENEius Challenge

BioGENEius was organized effectively, allowing us to have time for both presenting research, as well as networking and having fun. One of the most exciting parts was the 2 minute video filmed for the international finalists; it is a great way to spread awareness for biotechnology.”
