The Global Healthcare Challenge

Are you the next BioGENEius in Global Healthcare?

The Global Healthcare Challenge is focused on health care and medical biotechnology.

Biotechnology researchers and clinicians are healing the world by harnessing nature’s own toolbox, and our genetic makeup, to produce breakthrough products and technologies that meet our most pressing health care needs. Whether reducing the rates of infectious disease, increasing the odds of survival for serious conditions across the world or combating emerging threats in the developing world, biotechnology is there, changing the world now.

Did you know there are currently more than 250 biotechnology health care products and vaccines available to patients, many tailored to individuals with rare diseases? What will be your role in developing number 251?

By starting your application for the 2017 Global Healthcare Challenge, you can take your project to the next level. This is your opportunity to work with teachers and mentors in the field, surrounded by the best and brightest student minds in health care and medical biotechnology, while being evaluated and counseled by real-world academic and industry leaders who are currently changing the face, and health, of humanity.

How do I choose a Challenge track?

Projects for consideration for the Global Healthcare Challenge focus on the intended or anticipated outcomes of the work, not the process or processes used to achieve them.

Example projects could include but are not limited to:

  • Basic and translational systems knowledge (mapping genome elements, new molecular pathways, novel proteins, cell-cell interactions, etc.)
  • “Druggable” targets
  • Potential drugs and vaccines
  • Drug delivery
  • Bioproduction of therapeutics
  • Novel molecules
  • Nanobiotechnologies
  • Medical devices
  • Novel diagnostics
  • Data analytics/computational bioinformatics modelling, and health IT application - all related to human health.

Application Process

If you are a high school or home schooled from the United States, your application begins by entering the At-Large or Local BioGENEius Challenges, depending on whether or not your state has a local challenge. If you are from another country, please click on your respective challenge link below:
