Biotechnology is responsible for hundreds of medical diagnostic tests that keep the blood supply safe from HIV and detect other conditions early enough to be successfully treated. Home pregnancy tests are also biotechnology diagnostic products.

The 2011 competition was a wonderful success and we are proud to announce that two of our 2011 Delaware BioGENEius Winners, placed in the U.S. National Challenge & International Challenge. Achille Tenkiang advanced to the International BioGENEius Challenge and Priyen Patel was named Honorable Mention Media Awardee for the U.S. National BioGENEius Challenge.
What is the BioGENEius Challenge?
The BioGENEius Challenge is the most prestigious high school science competition in the world for original research in biotechnology. The Delaware Biotechnology Institute, in partnership with the Biotechnology Institute, coordinates the Delaware BioGENEius Challenge.
Would you like to submit your research for the 2012 BioGENEius Challenge?
The Delaware BioGENEius Challenge will be held in conjunction with two local science fairs: The New Castle County Science Expo and The Sussex County Science Fair.
To participate in the Delaware Challenge, you must:
1. Be conducting biotechnology research, which is defined as "the use of the knowledge of biological systems to produce goods and services".
2. Register for one of the two Delaware fairs by contacting the event staff listed below.
3. Register on The Biotechnology Institute website by April 15, 2012 by completing the online application. Don’t forget to also complete the Declaration and Authorization Release Form required for your participation.
