The Genzyme-Invitrogen Biotech Educator Award, formerly the National Biotechnology Teacher-Leader Award, recognizes exemplary teaching at the high school level that has positively impacted students’ understanding of biotechnology’s promise and challenges. The winners receive cash awards of $10,000, $5,000 and $2,500 respectively and are chosen by a panel of judges from academia, research, and the industry, from among the Institute’s network of Teacher-Leaders. These edecuators serve as models for their colleagues on how to incorporate biotechnology into the classroom and act as a resource for their peers.
