The annual Biotechnology Education Awards Banquet is the signature networking event of the Conference on Biotechnology Education. Approximately 1,000 people from around the world will be in attendance and the audience will include the participants from all of the Institute’s programs, biotechnology industry executives, policymakers, board members from BIO and the Biotechnology Institute, officials from higher education institutions, K-12 administrators, and the media. An hour-long reception provides attendees an extraordinaryy opportunity to network. The artwork of the finalists in the BioDreaming Poster Competition will be on display. The Biotech Educator Award will be presented at the banquet, and the speaker will be a high-profile individual who is a biotechnology leader or a friend to the biotechnology industry. The speaker will deliver an inspiring message about the importance of biotech education. The 2008 speaker was US Secretary of Education Margaret Spellings.
