The Biotechnology Institute invites you to share your high quality educational practices and programs with educators and industry at our annual Conference on Biotechnology Education, which is held in conjunction with the Biotechnology Industry Organization’s (BIO) International Convention.
Middle school, high school and post-secondary instructors and nonprofit and industry representatives with exemplary programs are invited to submit proposals. The Institute would like to highlight and develop a body of outstanding teaching practices and programs available to all educators of biotechnology. All biotechnology educators and those interested in biotechnology education are encouraged to attend the Best Practices Day.
There is no fee or cost to present at Best Practices Day and the Institute does not provide any funding to cover travel and lodging. However, we do offer presenters a one-day pass to the BIO International Convention. The full access one-day pass includes the following:
- One-day entry to BIO Exhibition
- Breakout sessions (one-day)
- Evening reception ticket
- Keynote luncheon (if applicable)
- Tuesday night exhibition reception (if applicable)
- Attend Business Forum company presentations (one-day)
- BIO Career Fair
Presenters will be provided with lunch the day of the event and are provided with a complimentary registration to attend to the Biotechnology Education Banquet held the evening of May 2, starting at 6:30 pm.
In addition to the approximately 100 Teacher-Leaders attending the Conference on Biotechnology Education, we are inviting science teachers from the Chicago area and entire state of Illinois. We anticipate a total audience of over 200 educators. The day is planned to start with an opening plenary at 9 am, sessions from 10 am till noon, lunch from noon to 1 pm, a second plenary from 1 pm till 2 pm, and more sessions from 2 pm until 4 pm.
Please complete a proposal form to be considered for presenting at Best Practices Day and return it by February 1, 2010.
