Here is what the participants are saying...
BioDreaming was a great activity for assessing student knowledge of biotechnology in my Biotechnology course. The poster results gave me an idea of who was really understanding how biotechnology was defined.
My students really enjoyed the project. Students could display creativity that sometimes gets lost in regular paper-n-pencil activities. It also helped to build the self-esteem of some of my lower level students that may have more of that creative spark or talent for drawing.
It's easy, students enjoy it and have fun with it. I suggest that teachers have students vote for the top five posters in a class and only submit those. Also, have students present their posters to enhance your assessment of their understanding.
I would definitely encourage other teachers and students to participate in the BioDreaming program.

The Biodreaming program presented an opportunity to introduce biotechnology to my intermediate students. Because the science of biotechnology is not often addressed until the high school level, it provided a gateway for students to inquire about a possible coursework path towards a career in biotechnology at an earlier stage. Junior high students usually hear of projects in the field through television news stories but few actually know where the technology originates.
Creativity and scientific exploration come together through the BioDreaming program. It encourages research and exposes young minds to the field of biotechnology.
I would encourage other educators to consider this new and growing science. Doing so may spark the interest of some of our young people, giving them the edge they need to compete in today's scientific world.

I participated in the BioDreaming program because it was an option for a project that my class had to do for biology. I chose it because I liked the idea of combining biology and creativity. It was fun to come up with a way to display a lot of information in an interesting, artsy way.
The BioDreaming program will help me in my career development in that it provides ways to expand my knowledge and become even more interested in biology. I can explore new parts of biology and participate in new experiences that will help me down the road to find the best career for me.
What I enjoyed most about the BioDreaming program was creating the poster for the contest. It gave me a chance to combine my love of biology with my love of art, so I really enjoyed it.
To others who are considering taking part in the BioDreaming program, I say "Go for it!" It is a lot of fun and at the same time you get to learn new things that are exciting and have to do with the future of our world. This program is a great way to get involved and take part in an awesome experience that is a small, but important part of our future.

I am interested in the social sciences of health so the BioDreaming program showed me the many scientific areas there are and how much science has advanced, something that may help me in my future goals.
It was interesting to decide how to design a biotech poster and what to include, and how to portray our message. The best way to approach the contest was to do some research on biotechnology and discover many things that we ourselves did not know, and then incorporate them into our posters, keeping in mind our interests.
I believe it is a great way to get students aware of biotechnology around us in a creative and innovative method, making students study and learn more about biotech while enjoying it at the same time!
